Īlthough some of the characters have remained almost identical through all four games others have changed completely. Strategically, the core gameplay revolves around trying force situations where your fighter is in their stronger Beast form while your opponent is stuck in their weaker Human form.

The gameplay experience of Bloody Roar is a combination of classic and current style side scrolling fighting games. In Bloody Roar: Extreme only, a fifth button is available to use Hyper Beast Form. A button each for both punch and kick, the beast ( transform/attack) button and a fourth button that has been either a throw button, a block button, an evade button and/or a Rave button (in Bloody Roar only). In 2008, Bloody Roar and Bloody Roar 2 was available to download in the Playstation Network for PSP and PS3īloody Roar has kept somewhat the same controls over the series, particularly after the second opus who determined the base of the games mechanics.
The following is a complete list of the games in the series: There are three Bloody Roar sequels, plus a game based on a sidestory set between 3 and 4 on the Nintendo GameCube which was later ported to the Xbox. The game would appear under the name Bloody Roar when ported to the PlayStation in 1998, which would become the permanent title thereafter. The game's theme incorporated anthropomorphism, where the player has the ability to transform into a half-human, half-animal creature known as a Zoanthrope. In an effort to demonstrate their mercenaries' strength to foreign powers and train additional soldiers, the Kingdom holds a Zoanthrope fighting tournament, with the winner earning the title of "Strongest Zoanthrope" and a large cash prize.The series began in 1997 under the name Beastorizer. Rumors also persist that the Kingdom is conducting some sort of experiments on Zoanthropes, all while some citizens object to its authoritarian rule, threatening the ideal of peace for all Zoanthropes. This new land, however, relies heavily on Zoanthrope soldiers and mercenaries as a source of income, selling their service to various foreign countries.
Roughly 80 percent of its residents are Zoanthropes, though both Zoanthropes and humans are considered equal. With human-Zoanthrope relations still unstable, a place called the Kingdom of Zoanthropes is founded to help end oppression and conflict. Despite it being a 3D fighting game, it plays much more similarly to 2D fighting game, with a larger focus on the horizontal and vertical axis over side stepping.
It is a 3D 1v1 fighting game with a unique transforming mechanic, which makes it stand out among other fighting games. Bloody Roar Extreme is a fighting game co-developed by Hudson and Eighting, which acts as an updated version of Bloody Roar: Primal Fury.
